MAGA Press Report: Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency Shuts Down $373M in DEI Grants
In a bold move to combat radical left-wing ideologies in our nation's schools, President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has dismantled 70 diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) grants, totaling a staggering $373 million. This two-day operation marks a decisive step in Trump's ongoing effort to restore sanity to American education.
"In the last 48 hours, the Department of Education terminated 70 DEI training grants worth $373M," DOGE proudly announced on Friday via X (formerly Twitter), the social media platform owned by Elon Musk. DOGE, led by Musk and tasked with eradicating wasteful government spending and progressive overreach, highlighted one of the canceled grants that funded programs encouraging teachers to "engage in ongoing learning and self-reflection to confront their own biases and racism."
This latest move follows a series of high-profile DEI funding cuts, including a $9.7 million grant to the University of California at Berkeley, which sought to develop "a cohort of Cambodian youth with enterprise-driven skills," as reported by the New York Post.
President Trump has been steadfast in his stance against DEI programs. On Inauguration Day, he issued a groundbreaking executive order demanding the elimination of all DEI personnel and initiatives across federal agencies. The order deemed such programs "illegal and immoral" — a stance he has reiterated throughout his presidency.
The Department of Education also sent a warning letter to academic institutions receiving federal funds, demanding that they end all DEI programs within 14 days or risk losing their funding. Citing the landmark 2023 Supreme Court ruling in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, the letter emphasized that racial preferences in admissions and DEI policies violate Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The Court’s decision set a new framework for assessing the use of race in education, making it clear that racial discrimination—whether overt or covert—will no longer be tolerated.
"The Department will no longer tolerate the overt and covert racial discrimination that has become widespread in this Nation's educational institutions," the letter declared. "The law is clear: Treating students differently on the basis of race to achieve nebulous goals such as diversity, racial balancing, social justice, or equity is illegal under controlling Supreme Court precedent."
Trump's war on DEI extends beyond just policy; he has long advocated for the abolition of the Department of Education altogether. Earlier this month, Trump told Linda McMahon, his nominee to lead the department (who is awaiting Senate confirmation), that she should "put herself out of a job."
With these decisive actions, President Trump continues to lead the charge in ensuring that American schools are places of merit and equality, not political indoctrination.
