In this short 3 minute read I will explain why you feel overwhelmed and how you can remove that feeling and replace it with excitement to grow your Home Care Business.
Feeling overwhelmed, then read on 👇
Why do we feel overwhelmed?
In my experience working with Home Care Providers the No1 reason is they spend too long focussing on their long term goals. They want success and make plans, only to give up when things get tough.
To be fair, Home Care can be a challenging environment. You rock up on a Monday morning, full of excitement for the week. You listen to the staff moan about the weekends on-call, the rotas that need covering, the staff that called in sick and how there isn’t a hope of covering all the visits for the week to thenb feel down and depressed by 9.30am.
You get stuck fighting fires, helping staff and calming everyone down, only to give up on your plans and goals. It's Monday morning and already, the thought of taking your business from a 1000 weekly hours to 2000 is overwhelm overload.
So What can you do differently?
The First step is to understand this (It’s very important).......
You Can Only Work In The Now!!
We often feel overwhelmed because we are working day to day and thinking of a goal that’s 5 years away. When getting through the day is tough, the 5 year goal will seem impossible. It’s no wonder you feel overwhelmed. But It’s not your fault.
Most of you have been taught to make goals and have visions but most haven’t been taught how to make the goal a reality.
So How do you make your goal a reality?
Remember you can only Work in The Now. The past has gone and there is nothing you can do to change it and the future will never arrive. You only have today, right now, this moment.
When you understand this you can stop thinking about how hard it will be to double your weekly hours. You can focus on making today the best day to drive your business forwards and that’s all you can do until tomorrow comes.
So How Do I Do That?
It’s very simple actually: All you have to do is learn how to break your 5 year goal down into manageable chunks.
I.e. Set goals for each year leading up to the 5 year goal. Then make a plan for the year ahead. Turn that plan into quarterly and monthly goals/plans, followed by a weekly and daily plan.
Then only focus on 1 day at a time. (Remember you can only work on the NOW) so you can’t work tomorrow, today. You can only work today!!!
Make Sense? Good but that’s not all.
For the ultimate success you must do these three things every day….
Sometimes we wake up grumpy, stressed, overwhelmed or frustrated. Ask yourself, will this mood move me forwards? Remind yourself of how your life will be when you hit your goals and choose a better mood.
Choose, excitement, happiness, optimism etc.
Think about successful people, are they down in the dumps or optimistic? Your mood is your choice.
By setting your mood every morning you put yourself in a position to have a great day.
2. Set the outcome for the day
Remember, you can only work today in the Now, so why not choose the outcome you want. What’s that 1 big thing that will move your business forwards today? Set the outcome and do everything you can to make sure you experience that outcome.
3. Work at least 90 minutes a day on your business and not in it.
This is really important. You must train your staff to understand you need time to work on the business every day. They must leave you alone for at least 90 minutes a day as there is so much you can achieve in 90 minutes. When you have your alone time, get to work on your plans to drive the business forwards.
Recap
Choose a mood for success, Work out the outcome you want for every day that will move you towards your goal, then work 90 minutes a day on your business to achieve the outcome. Do this and you will hit your weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly and 5 year goals with excitement and no overwhelm.
If anyone wants a list of things you can do within 90 minutes a day to reach your goals. I’d be very happy to send it to you.
