INDIANAPOLIS – Despite Indiana men’s basketball team being swept by Purdue in the 2023-24 season, the Hoosiers' alumni squad, Assembly Ball, triumphed over the Boilermakers' Men of Mackey with a score of 68-55 on Sunday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse. This win propels Assembly Ball into the Butler regional final of The Basketball Tournament (TBT), where they will face Eberlein Drive at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Hinkle. Eberlein Drive features players from various universities and stands as one of TBT's most established teams.

In its debut season, Assembly Ball showcased six former Hoosiers on the court this past Sunday. Guards Yogi Ferrell (2012-16), Devonte Green (2016-20), and Jordan Hulls (2009-13) teamed up with forwards Miller Kopp (2021-23), Race Thompson (2018-23), and Juwan Morgan (2015-19). Making their tournament debuts, Hulls and Kopp both hit the floor for the first time on Sunday. Notably, Hulls was inducted into the Monroe County Sports Hall of Fame on Friday, while Kopp recently competed with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Summer League. Christian Watford, an IU standout from 2009 to 2013, serves as the team’s general manager. Although Troy Williams (2013-16) is listed on the roster, he has yet to play in the opening two games. The gym was packed with current and former Hoosier basketball icons, including forward Trayce Jackson-Davis (2019-23) and current players guard Anthony Leal and forward Luke Goode. Indiana women’s basketball legends Mackenzie Holmes and active guard Sydney Parrish were also present to support their fellow Hoosiers.
