Why Yellow Diamonds are Great Investments

Yellow diamonds have undoubtedly captured the hearts of many, gracing the red carpet and setting auction records. But what makes these stones so extraordinary and sought after?

First, let's talk about rarity. Only about 1 in 10,000 diamonds possess a yellow hue. These stones owe their color to the presence of nitrogen during the diamond's formation. The more nitrogen, the stronger the yellow color. The intense, vivid yellows are the most desirable and valuable.

Yellow diamonds also have a rich history, with some of the world's most famous diamonds showcasing this alluring color. Take, for example, the Tiffany Yellow Diamond, a 128.54-carat canary diamond discovered in 1877. The stone was cut into its current shape – a stunning cushion cut – in 1878, and has since become an icon of the Tiffany & Co. brand. Lady Gaga wore the giant Tiffany yellow diamond to the Oscars.  It was also worn by Audrey Hepburn for publicity photos for the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany's”.  Julia Roberts wore a similiar yellow diamond necklace at Canne's festival from Chopard.  Another stunning Chopard yellow necklace suite was worn by Brazilian actress Marina Ruy Barbosa.  Opera singer Pretty Yende wore a fabulous yellow diamond suite when she sang at King Charles Coronation.

In the auction front, Sothby's set a record in 2014 with a Graff yellow diamond with a $16 million price tag with its 100+ carat yellow diamond ring.  This year, a 101+ carat fancy vivid yellow diamond brooch from Cartier was estimated with a pre-sale vale of $7 million.

Incorporating a yellow diamond into your jewelry collection is an excellent way to add a touch of glamour and rarity. From delicate yellow diamond studs to statement-making necklaces, these pieces are sure to become cherished heirlooms and stood out as a great engagement ring option.

Yellow diamonds are truly unique treasures, both for their captivating beauty and their fascinating history. Whether you're drawn to their rarity, their vivid colors, or their storied past, these stones make a lasting impression. So, if you're looking to add a touch of luxury and allure to your jewelry collection, consider the radiant beauty of a yellow diamond.
